Open Water Certification Options

Taking the Open Water Diver Course is the first step in becoming a certified, recreational diver.  All that you need to enroll in a PADI Open Water Diver course (or Junior Open Water Diver course), is to be at least 10 years old, have adequate swimming skills and be in good physical health.  Which path toward certification is right for you depends on partially on how you prefer to learn, and how much of your vacation time you want to spend on your diver education.

Your scuba certification card will be recognized worldwide and allows you to dive as an independent buddy team to a maximum depth of 60ft/18M. (Max 40ft/12M for 10-11 year old divers).

No matter which path you select, all PADI Open Water Diver courses consist of three main phases:

  • Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills
  • Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore!
